Everywhere you look you see affiliate program offers for
every product or service that you can think of. Some have
fully automated systems that sell high volumes of hard
products all over the world. In case you don’t know, “hard”
products are those that you can touch…unlike an ebook or
downloadable web template. Many affiliate programs have
several thousand affiliates and one or two of the bigger
companies have over one million affiliates.

What are the advantages of joining an affiliate program?

They provide a ready-made business. This is a very big plus
for those people who want to earn some kind of living off
the Internet but lack the knowledge or inclination to set up
a business by themselves.

Commissions and rewards are generally good, and the more
established programs offer a real chance of advancement to
higher and better-paid levels.

Other affiliates are usually on hand to offer practical
support.

What are the limitations?

You are restricted in your promotional activities due to the
fact that you do not actually own the affiliate site they
give you. You won’t be able to put such things as banners,
images, links, meta tags, etc. onto your page.
The URL of your affiliate page is often either too long or
contains such awkward things as question marks, which many
Search Engines will not index.

Any promotional ads or articles have probably already been
used by thousands of other people and consequently may have
lost its impact, making it more difficult to achieve sales
or referrals.

If the program you have joined has not yet established
itself (or in some cases even if it has), then you may
encounter problems with payments owed to you not being
honored. You also run the risk of low quality products or
sub-standard statistics that do not accurately record how
many referrals or sales you have made.

You may be required to purchase a minimum quantity of the
product on a regular basis before you start to qualify for
commissions or even before you can become an affiliate.
You may not get the technical or affiliate support you might
expect from the company. This may be due to inadequate
staffing, or the company’s negligence.

Other people in your downline do nothing to promote the
program.

At least four of the above limitations can be overcome with
a little time and effort. You could, for example, come up
with fresher ads to promote the program (provided this is
allowed).

If the company supplies the email addresses of people in
your downline, then you could offer to help the less active
members. Very often these people are passive not because
they are lazy or apathetic but merely because they don’t
know HOW to promote effectively! your guidance could mean
the difference between no sales or referrals and healthy
downlines and residual incomes.

As regards promoting your actual page, here are a couple of
little tricks that should overcome a number of
restrictions:

Go to your affiliate page. Place your mouse pointer anywhere

page. Save this to your hard drive as a HTML document using
the “Save As” function. Upload the page to your web site.

People in network marketing and internet marketing are always looking for the tip-over point.


The tip-over point is hard to pinpoint, but its effect can be awesome and hard to miss.


Let’s say you have signed up with a new internet business opportunity. You have your website, and you have done all the promotional stuff…search engine optimization, built an opt-in mailing list, post on forums, write articles…the whole nine yards. Then you wait. Maybe an order or two trickles in, but after a while, that dries up, if it ever happens at all.


So, you try a couple of new tactics, redesign the page, join a couple more forums, try some free classified advertising and sit back again. Same thing.


Now, at this point, 99.99999% of new internet marketers or network marketers are going to throw in the towel and start telling anybody they meet that internet marketing and/or network marketing is a scam…a rip-off!


Here’s a fact for you. It is going to take time to make your home or internet business successful. Even if you are doing all the right things, success will probably not come to you overnight. Even if you DO the right things, you are more likely to be successful if you KEEP doing them!

The next one might be a day or a week away, but you keep doing what you’ve been doing and they get closer together…maybe even several in the same day.


You have finally reached the tip-over point. That’s the point in which all that you have done has pushed your home or internet business onto a plane where it almost seems like it has a life of its own. However, if you quit doing what you’ve been doing, things might slow down or come back to a stop.


People in multi-level marketing (MLM) sometimes get to really see the tip-over in a way that non-MLM people seldom do. I’ve had friends in multi-level marketing who spent all their time trying to sell product and just recruited the occasional new down line member. As commonly happens, most of these people fall by the wayside and never really produce anything. However, if enough people have been added to the down line, it is likely that some quality producers will emerge. When enough of these people have been added and they have gotten their collective feet on the ground, they can make a network marketing, or internet marketing, business grow by leaps and bounds.


I often mention my two friends who became millionaires in two different network marketing programs. Neither made tons of money from their own sales. Both took between three and four years to hit their tip-over point. When it arrived however; when they had enough people in their down lines that were producing income and building THEIR down lines, that’s when my friends saw their checks skyrocket. 2. Books: Of course you know how vital those precious one-on-one moments are, but remember that they can be infused with language learning also. Books are the most effective tool for teaching language, and so I advise all parents: “Start reading at birth and never stop!” A good way to add to reading time (and make it really personal) is to create a dialogue, encouraging your child’s comments, responses, and elaborations. Talk about what the characters are like and what they might be doing next.

3. The right stuff: From books, add video, television and games. There are a multitude of aides towards fluency. In particular, games that use rhyming will make the most of language memory, but “I Spy”, “Bingo” and “Memory” with picture cards will also playfully build vocabulary.

4. Sing and dance: Children absolutely love music, but don’t rely solely on recorded music; your own singing, even if it is off-key, will still serve to unite melody and words for your child more surely than any professional recording ever could. Melody is also a fantastic memory aid. Think about how much easier children learn their ABCs when they sing them, compared to just reciting them. And, the combination of music with movement and gestures will enliven it all — as well as provide a nice outlet for squirmy toddlers.

5. Tap into their interests: Whatever your child’s enthusiasms may be — whether a love of soccer, dance, or horses — make an effort to ‘involve’ these passions in the minority language. “My 3-year old son is a really big “Bob de Bouwer” (Bob the Builder) fan,” says Martijn Fredriks. “So now we always watch it in Dutch, and he’s even started speaking in Dutch when he plays with the Bob the Builder toys.”

6. Be creative: The trick is to give the child lots to talk about, so draw out that conversation! Encourage them to make up their own stories, play dress-up and pretend in the second language. Even painting, working with sidewalk chalk, or molding clay usually creates more vocabulary than art! Older children may enjoy calling or using a webcam for calls overseas (one such free service is Skype).

7. Outside the box: Isabella Vellaccio, a mother in Washington DC, who reached beyond the obvious says, “I wanted my son to hear Italian from someone else than just me, and the playgroups were all during my working hours.” Isabella decided to attend the church coffee after the Italian mass on Sundays. “The older Italian parishioners were thrilled to see him learn Italian.” Needless to say, with that much attention, and Italian cookies, he loved it.”

8. Baby sitter: Find a college student who speaks the language, or for something more consistent, try a nanny or an au-pair.

9. Visits: The ultimate language boost is to visit the country where it is spoken. Total immersion for a couple of weeks has an amazing effect. And visits from friends or family also provide a valuable boost.

10. Enthusiasm: While the quantity of spoken language is the most important factor in learning a language, the second most vital ingredient is the amount of positive feedback the child hears. Early on, when a child is struggling to get those first syllables out, resist the urge to correct…it can actually inhibit language skills.

There is a myriad of ways to ensure that foreign language time is “quality time,” but like any other aspect of parenting: trust your judgment, employ your imagination, and listen very, very well.
