Go online to get the best contract phone deal

When my mobile rings at the moment there is a roughly 50/50 chance that it is some poor sales guy offering me a ‘fantastic’ deal on a new mobile phone. This annual ritual of advances and declines that takes place every July can mean only one thing. My mobile phone contract is due for renewal. In recent weeks I’ve had numerous calls, direct mail and e-mail marketing from various companies trying to win me over as a new contract mobile phone customer. To be honest, I would have been tempted just to roll over my current contract and stick with my mobile network provider had they themselves not shoved a deluge of frankly confusing ‘great deals’ through my letter box. I read through these and found myself without any clue as to which of the contract mobile deals would suit me best.

Perhaps I am becoming less intelligent by the day or is it just that the mobile network providers are vying for customers so hard that they end up confusing us with an ever increasing array of complicated payment structures? At around that time I decided to do things by the book. Firstly I dumped the direct mail in the bin and deleted messages from peaky sales centres. I then visited the website of Ofcom for advice on how to go about finding the best contract phone deals.

The information from Ofcom was simple and straight forward and gave me a good place to start. I made a list of my usage and lifestyle points to structure the basics of the mobile phone deal that I’d need. I then looked through previous itemised bills to find how much text messaging I was going and looked at other areas such as downloading and came up with a ‘package’ that suited my usage. The next thing was to go out there and find contract phone deal that matched up closely with my ‘package’.

So again I tried the web figuring it to be a little more unbiased than going through the more marketing focused communication channels. There was some good stuff online – lots of information from review sites on customer service of the major networks and reviews of handsets that proved pretty useful. This helped me figure out the handset I wanted and so I progressed to the purchase stage of my search for a new contract phone. In the end I went to an online reseller who deals with the major networks ad phone manufacturers. Their site had a tool which basically allowed you to create your own contract moblie phone deal with the handset and monthly payment structure that suits. I picked the handset that I wanted on the contract that I wanted and ended up with an I-Pod as a free gift into the bargain.

This is really the first time that I’ve used the web to compare product and services. I plan on doing it again – next up electricity and gas prices!

Weight loss for Couch Potatoes – Don’t Get up, I’ll Explain…

+++ You’re fat and you know it! Now I’m going to tell you something you don’t already know.

You think you already know why you’re fat but you don’t. You think it’s because you just don’t have enough time and motivation to exercise. You think it’s because you love food and don’t quite have enough willpower to cut back sufficiently. You don’t have a clue!

The real reason you’re gaining weight is going to shock you: it’s because you have the mind of a well-trained athlete. Don’t laugh quite yet. Have you ever noticed how fast athletes gain weight when they retire from competition? It’s freakish. The same reason that athletes are good at sports later causes them to bloat — they have especially “trainable” subconscious minds. If you understand the mechanism then you can learn to control your weight without diet, suffering or an inhuman exercise schedule.

+++ Weight Loss and your Athletic Mind

Before I continue, I should say that it is true: the immediate cause of weight-gain is what you eat and how you live. I’m not preaching any pseudo-science here. However, controlling what you eat and how you live is elusively difficult and I will show you why. If you think you can change your behavior pattern with sheer willpower — then you just haven’t really tried yet.

Sure, you and I pride ourselves in being rational adults, in control of our choices and our destiny. But that’s just a load of crap. In truth, we rarely ever do anything that brings us discomfort in the short run. You think otherwise? Go take a straight-cold shower just to prove who is in control. Go without solid food for two days. It won’t hurt you, but it will make your body angry. And the fact of the matter is that we are usually slaves to response patterns established by our bodies. Sorry but it’s true.

+++ The Key to Controlling your Body is to Control Your Mind

Training your body is all about training your mind. We’re not talking calculus here, we’re talking about your sub-conscious mind — where deep emotions, established patterns, habit and instant responses live. You are a trinity of sorts, 1) a lazy body, 2) a clever and fickle conscious mind and 3) a lumbering but steady subconscious that does most of the work around here.

You probably know already that the subconscious mind provides emotional responses to reinforce “good” behavior (like eating pizza) — but what you might not know is that the subconscious is also responsible for all athletic ability. Even the simple stuff like walking or typing is a constant interaction of conscious commands and unconscious responses. For example, when you learn to shoot a basketball, what you are actually doing is using the conscious mind to burn in a pattern which develops into a subconscious skill-set. When you’ve truly mastered a move, you “no longer have to think about it”. If you’re still thinking about the mechanics of a dance step — it’s a sign that you have not “learned it” yet. That is, your subconscious cannot yet take over. Once you have “learned” the skill, your conscious mind need only call out the command and the subconscious does the action.

To better understand your psychology, let’s liken your mind to a couple animals: imagine a Chimp riding on the back of an Elephant. The subconscious mind is like a slow dumb strong elephant while your conscious mind is like the clever fast chimp.

Chimp (conscious mind)
———————-
Fast
Clever
Creative
Forgetful
Thinks he’s in control

Elephant (subconscious)
———————–
Slow
Not creative
Slow learner with a vast memory
Awesome reflexes (ok so the metaphor’s not perfect)
Usually in control

+++ The Willpower Myth

The nice thing about this little metaphor is that it allows me to point out the absurdity of the whole concept of “willpower” in the sense of the conscious mind overwhelming the subconscious with a show of brute force. Seriously, just imagine the chimp wresting the elephant. Where’s the “brute force” of the chimp? The elephant’s just going to sit on him and the game is over. That, by the way, is exactly where every diet ends when supported by willpower alone. The subconscious is a powerful part of your mind. You can control it through persuasion but not with brute force.

+++ The Elephant, the Stick and the String

In Indonesia, elephants are used in construction work because they are so powerful and yet obedient. All day long the elephant moves hundreds of tons of stone and wood and at night he taken to his bed of straw and tied up. Do you know how big the rope is required to hold an elephant? It’s just a little string tied to a stick driven into the ground.

You see, when the elephant was very young, he was tied with the same stick and string — and he was too little to pull free. For the rest of his life, he remembers this and never questions the superior strength of the little stick and string. Think about it.

What are you really capable of? To be blunt, you have no idea. Your limitations are defined by childhood experience — and bear no relation to your adult capabilities. Like the elephant, you are emotionally tethered by childhood ideas. Most of your adult personality is just a protective cage built by a scared child. What would you give to have the power to redefine yourself?

Now for the good news: you’re not just an elephant, you’re also part chimp! That could have sounded better but never mind. Your mind has a small, clever, conscious aspect that gives you the ability to reprogram your entire mind. That’s right, your conscious mind (the chimp) has the ability to completely re-write and take control of your entire mental reality.

This ability defines humans — it makes us the most flexible animals on earth and it allows us to train our minds to do amazing things. From playing concert piano to extreme sports, the vast power of the mind is tapped by this uniquely human capability.

+++ Ok, so what does all this have to do with weight loss?

Remember, the elephant learns and repeats patters of behavior that are taught to it — so the real question is “how to teach the subconscious”. Here’s the simple single trick that people need to understand. If you understand this simple principle then you can be the master of your own mind. You will also understand why our educational system doesn’t work (but that’s another article entirely).

Our subconscious mind ignores most of what we tell it because we bark at it in the wrong language. The language of the subconscious mind is EMOTION. Using the barometer of our emotion, the subconscious mind is able to determine the importance of any particular behavior. For example, say that you’re trying to learn a new skill. You’re working hard to learn but you are not enjoying the task and your emotions are saying “this sucks, I wish I were elsewhere, how much longer is this going to take?” Well, it’s going to take a lot longer because you’re broadcasting to your subconscious mind the message “ignore this activity, just move along, there’s nothing to see here.” What was your emotional state, and how easily did you learn in high school?

It may not feel like it but you’re in full control of your conscious emotions. And this is the fundamental method of programming the subconscious mind. It is, without a doubt, a form of natural hypnosis. Whereas traditional hypnosis works by moving aside the conscious mind, emotional programming works by using the conscious mind – but to the same effect.

Now for the dark side: remember how I mentioned that have three aspects? Body, conscious and subconscious? Well, as it turns out, your body is busy programming your subconscious mind all the time. For example, you’re hungry so you bite into a slice of thick cheesy pizza — at which point your body screams out (on an emotional level) “this is good activity, very very good activity”. Food cravings are actually subconscious patterns based on years of such programming.

+++ Thankfully, the mind is fully re-programmable.

Now that you understand the basic mechanics of programming your mind, you can put it into practice right away. What you are going to do is to replace food cravings with exercise cravings. This technique is fun and very powerful because, rather than working against years of food programming, you’re going to do some mental Ju-Jitsu and simply translate an existing food craving into a desire for exercise. Magic? It’s better!

It’s quite simple: first of all you’re going to stop eating for a while (non-sugared drinks are ok). This is not a diet plan, we’re not yet trying to lose weight. We’re just trying to stimulate a hunger response. Now, when you begin to feel the initial sense of hunger, do this:

Breathe in deeply, relax, and feel the hunger — then don’t think of food. Instead, imagine yourself doing sit-ups and absolutely loving it. That’s right, visualize yourself hungry and doing sit-ups and let a feeling of joy and satisfaction flood over you. Then return to whatever you were doing.

In a few minutes, when the next pang of hunger comes, repeat this mental exercise. Keep it up for an hour or so and then go have a light snack. While you are eating (especially while you are eating) visualize yourself doing sit-ups and loving it. Associate in your imagination hunger, food, situps and joy.

+++ Hunger, Food, Sit-ups and Joy? He’s Crazy

Perhaps, but what you are doing is linking a desirable behavior to a very well established response pattern. You will be amazed at how you can use this technique to stimulate a deep urge to do sit-ups. The mind is truly amazing.

By the way, after a few days go ahead and give into the urge to do some sit-ups. As you exercise, make sure to continue the emotional feedback by “letting” yourself enjoy exercise. If you feel yourself not enjoying the process, take control of your emotions right away or stop exercising. It’s not worth sabotaging your work to burn a few extra calories.

Don’t push your body, push your mind! Your mind is the only gymnasium that really matters. Eventually, your mind will push your body and you will be able to enjoy the process.

I remember several years ago when I first experimented with this technique. As I started craving situps, I realized that doing situps would physically relieve any sense of hunger for an hour or so. I thought I had stumbled upon the strangest diet plan ever, the “silly, happy, situp diet”. But really, what I had discovered was the ability to consciously sublimate deep cravings to accomplish a desired objective. If you’re interested in exploring this technique I strongly suggest you download a self-hypnosis MP3 audio called “Appetite Zapper”. It will step you through the process of taking complete control of food cravings:

Appetite Zapper MP3: http://weight-loss.wendi.com

The mind is amazing but it just doesn’t come with a user’s manual. Most of the time it works pretty well on autopilot so we rarely learn to pop the hood and explore its full potential. That’s a shame because most of what we want in life — success, happiness, health, good relationships, the satisfaction of achievement — these things are all within our reach and the only thing holding us back is, you guessed it, a string and a stick.

The Enemy Within-Is Your Organisation Sabotaging Your E-Learning Initiatives?

free  Comments Off on The Enemy Within-Is Your Organisation Sabotaging Your E-Learning Initiatives?

“We have met the enemy, and they are us”
Walt Kelly in Pogo

It’s unfortunate, but true. Across many organisations, e-learning initiatives are being dogged by high mortality rates — and one doesn’t have to look very far to find the underlying reasons. The truth is closer to home than one might think, and that’s why it has so many managers and trainers squirming in discomfiture. Yes, the enemy is within… and most of them know it.

Strange as it may sound, the failure of many e-learning initiatives is traceable to ‘internal’ factors. If you want to set things right, here are some of the culprits you should watch out for:

The Learners Themselves
In most cases, it isn’t the learning that encounters resistance, it’s that little ‘e’ before it. Many organisations implement e-learning programmes without gaining insights into the learners’ comfort levels with computers and the Internet. The situation is aggravated by the fact that the learners feel that too much pressure is being put on them — “they want us to work, and they want us to undergo training, and now they want us to learn to use computers too!”
The only way to overcome this resistance, is to get a buy-in from the learners by offering the assurance that the organisation will take the responsibility of turning them into computer whizzes, thereby adding a valuable skill-set to their job profiles. Everyone knows the advantages offered by computer skills and nobody minds learning them — particularly when they know it’s for free.

A good example of this lies in an e-learning project handled by i-Strat for a global pharmaceutical major. To get its field force to use the new web-based learning and reporting system, the company put each employee through a crash course on Internet usage, conducted by a leader in the IT training space. Thereafter, every employee was given a cyber café membership with a daily quota of one hour. The actual reporting/learning took barely 15-20 minutes on a daily basis. The employees could use the rest of the time for checking their personal email, chatting, browsing, etc. At the end of a 12-month period, employees were polled on whether they would prefer to return to the old (manual) system. Not unexpectedly, they voted overwhelmingly in favour of the online system.

The Trainers Themselves
Well, not all trainers, to be fair — but it is now a proven fact that trainers of the old school of thought felt threatened by new media. Like so many before them, they thought their job function would be usurped by computers. Because of this, they thwarted the implementation of e-learning systems in many ways.

Sometimes it took the form of outright rejection, but most of the time it was a sort of silent resistance. Either way, the ultimate intention was the same — to be able to tell the management: “Hey! This new stuff isn’t working, you know. Let’s go back to the good old way of doing things.”

It’s a fairly common story, but one really can’t blame the trainers. The problem is actually attributable to a systemic failure. Once again, it’s about not getting a buy-in from the designated implementers of the e-learning system. The right way to go about this would be to initiate a ‘Train The Trainer’ programme that seeks to re-skill the trainers, thereby empowering them to drive the new computer/web-based training programmes with greater effectiveness.

So if your e-learning initiatives are running into rough weather, it’s perhaps a good idea to look inwards to uncover the underlying causes. And if you do happen to spot the enemy within, a few simple corrective measures are all that it takes to transform the erstwhile foe in a powerful ally.

It’s almost that time of year again; back to school they go! School supplies and clothes are on the minds of all moms. Some mothers are sending their children off to college with hope and warm wishes. Some may be sending their little ones to their very first day of kindergarten. Either way, we can help ease the pain and make it special for all.

Although Make a Diaper Cake Biz is famous for making “diaper cakes” from baby blankets and diapers, we love making cakes for any occasion…and you can too!

Using a towel and my template, found at http://www.makeadiapercake.biz, we made a very unique towel cake called “Cramming for Exams.” It’s filled with great things to help your child survive staying awake and cramming for those big exams. Below is a list of items I used for this cake but you can feel free to customize it to your child’s taste.

Supplies you will need:
– One large hand towel
– Shred
– Construction paper
– Tissue paper or packing paper
– A pack of index cards
– Highlighters and pencils
– The goodies — Two cans of Starbucks double-shot coffee drinks, M&M’s, Twix, Hersheys Chocolate Sticks, Choxie Coffee Toffee Bar, Snickers candy bar.

Start with using my template and round it out into a shape of a cake. Cut a strip of construction paper to insert inside of towel; fill with packing paper, shred and then arrange products to your liking. That’s it…simple and fun! You can make your own Back to School or College Cake, or contact us to make one for you.

Here is a list of other helper cakes for your child’s college days.

Get Well Cake: Take a yellow hand towel and use my method above. Fill with a big soup mug with a smiley face, chicken soup mix, a good book or magazine, tissues, vapor rub and cold medicine. If you can’t be there for your college student, at least you can send the gift of love to them.

Just for the Bathroom Cake: Make this a two-layer cake by bringing the top layer in slightly. Use a set of towels, roll the smaller ones and fill the center with things like toothpaste, small size mouthwash, floss and soap. Fill the cake with toothpaste, small mouthwash, floss, and soap. For the top layer, stuff with their favorite shampoo or body wash, lotions and deodorant.

Snack Attack Cake: Fill with all their favorites; chips and cookies. No one knows their child’s taste better than good ole’ mom.

Movie Night Cake: Fill with microwave popcorn, drinks, a gift card from blockbuster and of course candy.

Do you have younger ones going for the first time? Why not help ease the pain a bit with a cute cake filled with crayons, paints, glue sticks, little games, flash cards and little snacks for the first big day. Oh and you may want to add a little gift for the teacher too.

These back to school towel cakes can fit any children in your home. Just by adjusting the products, you too can put a smile on all your children’s faces.

Massage Therapy Business Cards With Muscle – Part 2

free  Comments Off on Massage Therapy Business Cards With Muscle – Part 2
Jun 222020

In Part 1 of this article on massage therapy business cards, we looked at why
most business cards are pretty much useless in compelling someone to call for an
appointment.

So how can we take a wimpy marketing tool like your massage therapy business
card and give it muscle? How do we put it to work so that it actually does
something for our business? How do we adapt these little cards to elicit a
response from potential clients?

My suggestion is this…

Include a direct response message on your card. Make them an offer that will
make people take action.

How about this as a little two-line message:

“Get a FREE half hour massage with the

purchase of 30 minutes (limit one per person)”

Then give your business card out like crazy. Give each of your existing
clients six cards and ask them to hand them out to people they know who may need
massage. Give them to your family and your friends to give to people they know.

But before you give them out, add one more little note. Write this by hand
and sign it with your first name only:

Expires: February 28th

Eric

Of course you don’t actually write “February 28th”, but put down a date that
is two to four weeks from the time you hand the card out. Then sign it with your
first name. You have to attach some sense of urgency to using the card or like
I’ve already said, it’s going to sit around forever and never get used. Putting
an expiry date makes people take action today.

I like the hand writing stuff. Not only is it practical i.e. your printed
business cards won’t get out of date, but it’s also a really nice personal
touch.

But you can print any kind of offer that you think your potential clients
might respond to. You can invite them to your massage therapy website to take a
free stress assessment online. You may invite them to sign up to your ezine for
announcements of special offers for subscribers only. You may offer them a free
paraffin wax treatment or body scrub with their next massage.

You decide what offer will work best for the type of clients you want to
attract.

The important thing is to take the necessary steps and turn your passive and
wimpy little massage business card into an action-generating (and
appointment-making) powerhouse.

So put your current cards aside and use them for writing your clients’
appointment times on them as a reminder for their next appointment. Then get
some new massage therapy business cards printed with this idea of eliciting a
direct response at the top of your mind. And watch the difference it makes in
your practice.

There’s still more that you can do to boost the response to your massage
business cards and we’ll look at that in Part 3 of this article.

Customer hunting and printing on demand

There are no more reasons why you will not be able to get more customers today with on demand printing up for grabs already.

The thing with marketing is that you need to read out to more customers to be able to have a successful business. Printing materials that would serve as your promotional tool is the only way to do it.

Your printing materials should serve as your representative. Without them, people will not remember you, what you have done and what you are capable of. You need to keep these things in mind before you even choose the kind of printing and printing company you want.

Now, how can you get more and more customers for your business?

Free offers or give away.

People are a sucker for free stuff. Nothing can make them come running as fast as when you offer them something they can have with no costs. Give it to them together with what you are trying to promote. Once they see that you are serious in your purpose, they will realize how you value your business. It will make them want to do business with you.

You can do this promotion online too. Everybody is online already; you may want to be there to be able to do business with these people.

Value your customers.

Accept it. It is not easy getting new customers. That is why you need to value the ones you have now and try to do repeat business with them. Your customers will appreciate you not forgetting about them and will continue to offer them new things that you have.

Do not shy away from trying to contact them and telling them about what your latest products or services are. Give it to them straight and do not make them do the searching.

Get lists and names of customers.

Business cards and other contact cards should not be disposed once a transaction is done. They would serve as your reference once you are looking for people to market your business to. Some of them may want to avail of what you have to offer. Some may even refer you to other acquaintances.

You can also try and get names for yourself from lists or referrals from those you know. There is a big possibility that customers are just waiting to hear about you and been doing that for quite some time.

Flowers, the nature’s gift

Flowers speak the language of love. It also speaks your concern and condolence on specific occasions of grief and sorrow. One of the best ways of expressing your love and affection to your beloved ones is through flowers – The flowers, colorful, fragrant and fresh from the gardens.

Gone are the days when one used to buy a bouquet of roses or a bunch of tulips from the local florists at exorbitant price, from the old stock. The choice was limited and the charm was lost in such bargains. The flowers in the local florists were not plucked to order, rather were waiting for the prospective buyer and might have passed many middlemen resulting in escalated cost. The choice was little and the selection instant from among the available varieties, and obviously the range too limited. The proliferation of online florists opened new dimensions in marketing of the flowers. At the convenience of one’s home one can choose the most appropriate and seasonal flowers at affordable costs and get it delivered at the intended destination within 24 hours. The choice is unlimited, the cost is less and the range is high. For those who are new to the online flower shopping it may be a bit strange but once they make a purchase they stick on to the choice since the benefits are many.

Shopping flower online

The online flower shopping has many advantages. The first and the foremost is the wide range of choice given by these sites, one can read, everything about the flowers and can make a right choice. No middlemen or no stale stuff. The sites arrange to pluck the flowers straight from the growers as per your demand and deliver the same at the desired place or person at the exact time. No forgetting or delayed reach. The booking can be made well in advance and once the payment is made with the necessary instructions for delivery one can forget about the same. The flower that arrive fresh and lively looks much better and lasts longer .One is well advised to go for the seasonal variety so that one would get a better bargain and the fresher variety. It would be wise to opt for the tulips and daffodils in January, and sun flower and Mary gold in the month of august –September.

Sending a bunch of roses on the birthday of your mother as a surprise gift would definitely surprise her and make her happy that she is in your thoughts all the time. Many a time the tight home budgets make it difficult to go for a purchase of a fifty dollar bunch of red roses for the right occasion and make us sad. They offer holiday flower arrangements and special delivery at regular intervals and also offer specialized service on memorable occasions. No last minute rush or exorbitant prices.
