Inexpensive Christmas Gifts

Christmas is a time of joy, piece, and giving. It is also a time of being
broke. Adults often think that the idea of making Christmas gifts is only for
children who do not yet have their own money to buy gifts. However,
with a little bit of ingenuity, some clever shopping, and a fair amount of
free time, you can make some very grown up do it yourself Christmas
gifts.

The first step is to spend an afternoon at a craft store, and see what
sticks out at you as things you would be comfortable sitting down to
work on. Some very basic, but very nice final product ideas include:

(1) Knit caps. If you have time to pick up crocheting or knitting,
Christmas is a perfect time of year to put that talent to good use. You
can make knit caps, mittens and scarves for men and women alike on your
holiday shopping list. With all of the different available colors and textures
in yarns today, it is virtually limitless what you can do to personalize a
knitted gift. For some extra special fun, you can work in some fun beads
fairly easily to jazz up a more basic design.

(2) Pick up some shadow box frames at the art store, and make some
personal home decorations. For example, if you have someone on your list
who is a big fan of Beethoven, you can create a shadowbox picture with
some music notes in the background with a copy of a Beethoven
songbook and maybe a dollhouse piano in the frame. Stuff like the
dollhouse furniture as well as lots of great designs for backgrounds and
the like can usually be found in the scrapbook section of your favorite
craft store.

(3) Jewelry is a great personal do it yourself gift. There are all different
skill levels for creating your own jewelry, and lots of different pieces that
you can purchase to make your gift as professional looking and beautiful as
you want. If you go to a good bead store, they will have lots of different
settings on which to put earrings and a great selection of different and
interesting beads for you to use. The best part though, is that they have
expertise. With a little bit of help from the experts, you can make
beautiful, one of a kind jewelry for less than a dollar a piece.

(4) Ornaments are a great way to celebrate the Christmas season. There
are so many different ways to create your own unique ornaments, that
you could make a different type of ornament for nearly everyone on your
list. You could cross-stitch some ornaments, hand paint a box of regular
glass ornaments, create egg shell ornaments with glitter or paint, make
picture frame ornaments, bead Holiday shapes with pipe cleaners and
pony beads, string some Hawaiian flowers for a funky tree garland, or just
put a glittery hook on a plain ornament bulb. The best part about this
gift, is that you get to see it every year on your loved one¡¯s Christmas
tree.

Colonic Irrigation …for your life

free  Comments Off on Colonic Irrigation …for your life
Dec 212022

We’re going through some big changes in our household at the moment. We’re having our office rearranged along with two bedrooms. We’re a tidy family and I assumed this would be an easy job. A few new bits of furniture, a few things moved about from here to there and – hey presto!

But that wasn’t the case!

Once we begun we realised that we actually hadn’t been as organised as we thought. We discovered we had collected clutter we hadn’t consciously realised it was there. It’s reminded me how easily clutter creeps into our lives. Before you know it’s become a drain on your energy.

That’s why I recommend a colonic irrigation for your life.

“But I like my ‘things'”, you might say.

Often we do become emotionally attached to things. My partner’s old desk, which was in one of the rooms we are rearranging, is old and tatty, it’s uncomfortable for him to sit at for any length of time and we don’t have the room for it either. I suggested we should pass it onto someone else that could get use from it.

But this brought up something interesting. You might recognise it!

He was reluctant to let the desk go. He told me how the desk had cost £500 a decade ago, that it is classic furniture and how it might come in useful one day. Finally he told me how he’d ‘been through a lot with that desk’.

Ah, emotions! Do you attach emotions to your clutter?

Of course you still have those memories without the physical thing but the ‘thing’ is the direct link, like a key to a door to the memory. Sometimes it’s lovely to have a key to a wonderful memory, other times they become unnecessary or even have negative emotions become attached (after you’ve bumped into it so many times or moved it out of your way to dust so often). And of course if we kept some sort of physical token on every occasion we wouldn’t be able to move in our environment.

So why bother de-cluttering?

Most of us would probably agree that a cluttered environment isn’t the nicest environment to thrive in. In my 16 years of coaching I’ve found that physical clutter is often a reflection of someone’s mind. If you’re anything like me you want to keep your mind focused on the great stuff you want to manifest not the clutter that you set your eyes on whilst glancing around. I’ve also found that clearing out the clutter creates the space in your mind, like a cleanse enabling you to think clearly, things run smoother in your life. That’s why I’ve included a de-cluttering exercise is in my home-study programme as well as in my one to one coaching and workshop.

If you’d like to explore these visit www.unstoppablelife.com

Another great reason for de-cluttering is to create space for all the wonderful, positive things you desire to come to you. How can things come to you if your life is already full of stuff?

Of course there are other sorts of clutter too. Things you haven’t communicated to someone that continues to bother you, childhood issues, relationship baggage, to name a few… These need clearing up.

Clutter came up at our CommunitySoul group last week. One lady said her motto was ‘if you don’t love it and don’t use it – bin it!’ Think of the number of times in a week you bring something you’ve bought or acquired into the house and compare that with the number of times you take things out of the house.

Even if, like me, you consider yourself to be a clutter free, organised person it’s worth having a regular clear out. Think of it as a colonic irrigation for the mind and for life. Have a good clear out!

Network Marketing Training- The Top 10 MLM Tools You will use in Network Marketing

by Doug Firebaugh

We went over the reasons for using tools in an earlier article, and this mlm training module will go over the 10 tools that you will be using hopefully on a regular basis.

I have found over the years that the distributors who use the mlm tools regularly and with mastery, have larger and more powerful organizations for the most part.

Do you want a powerful group and a large number of people? Than you need to learn the 10 tools and then choose 3 or 4 of them and master them, but you must learn to be equipped to use what we at PassionFire call the “Master Tool”–which is number one:

1)MLM Tools -The Telephone.

The telephone is the MLM Master tool that all millionaires in this business use…they not only have mastered the use of the phone, but teach their people to do the same thing.

The telephone is the most time EFFECTIVE tool there is.

INFERNO Secret:

The telephone will help you master your time and business, if you master it.

Many people have “phone-phobia,”and I am amazed that they can talk to anyone on the phone about most anything, but when it comes to this network marketing business, they freeze up and many cannot do it.

You need to find some good training for the phone, talk to your sponsor and see what he/she recommends…and PassionFire will have several modules on intense telephony…(training how to master the phone).

2)MLM Tools-The Voice Mail

IN MLM, You need to set up a Voice mail system and utilize it to catch and retrieve messages that you would have missed.

If you are doing this business right, than you will need a VM system to stay on top of your business. The telephone company has one available, and also check with your company to see if they have a corporate sponsored system that you can use as many mlm companies do, and I highly encourage companies to do so.

Put a short message on you VM, and make it no longer than a minute. Mmany people leave the name of their company, many don’t, I never did, but do what you think is best for you and your group.

Also, make sure you can retrieve VM messages from out of town…this will become Important once your group starts to grow….

3)MLM Tools-Three Way Calling.

This is the SECOND MASTER Tool. This is almost as important as the telephone. What is 3 way calling?

It is put on your phone by the phone company, and it allows you to call someone, put them on hold, dial another number, than click the first call you made over, and you have 3 people on the line at once! You, your first call, and your second call, like a “Mini Conference Call.”

This allows you to introduce your sponsor to your warm market over the phone and let someone who is more experienced than you to talk to your folks, and you learn at the same time.

You will learn how to do HOT 3 ways with PassionFire, and there will be several trainings you can read on how to master the 3 way.

By the way, 3 way calling is one of the most wrongly used tools in MLM, and you will learn how to use right and create a magnetic phone call.

4)MLM Tools- Audios.

Audios, or cassettes and CDs, are a great tool that can help introduce the concept and message of your company to the marketplace. It is a very simple thing to use, and pretty inexpensive usually.

The audio, will within a short time frame, will give enough information to see if the prospect is interested either in your products and services, or the business. It will help bridge the gap between the new distributor, who is learning the business, and the prospect, who wants a professional presentation, the audio does that.

Interactive CDs have become very popular, and there are great ones out there. Whatever you choose to use, just use it a lot!

Either way, use the audios all the time as they are duplicatable, and they work the same everytime as you are learning the network marketing business.

5)MLM Tools- Videos.

Videos are popular, but not as much as they were in the early 90s…..videos help to tell your story from a visual and audio standpoint, but understand that videos are watched less than audios are listened to.

There is an exception.

Streaming videos and audios are becoming VERY popular on the internet, and many websites have them online, and the quality of the videos online are improving daily it seems and you may want to check it out.

Make sure your video you use, as audios too, are NOT boring. You want a video that is hip, and moves, and is exciting.

6) MLM Tools-Self -Replicating Websites.

Many MLM companies today have what are called “Self Replicating Websites,” like you have probably with your company. it is a website that allows you to have your own personal web page, and usually you can put your picture and a note from you on it to personalize it.

I highly recommend you get one, as they are very affordable today, and it gives you a place where people can go online and check out who you and your company are.

Make sure your website is professional looking. There is nothing that will turn a prospect off quicker than a sloppy and unprofessional web page.

7) MLM Tools-Brochures.

Brochures are a must in todays world. They not only visually can tell your story, but also can tell it thousands of times when you are not there.

You can give them out, mail them, and even use it as a presentation. They normally are 4 color, and look professional, and they usually can be purchased from your network marketing company.

Make sure you use them, and use them often and train your folks top do the same thing.

8) MLM Tools-Presentation Book.

This is a MUST for face to face presentations. I is simply a “flip book” that you use and you flip pages to explain about the MLM company, products, and Comp Plan.

You can make your own with the brochures your company has, and put the pages in clear plastic sleeves, and then put it in a 3 ring binder.

What has become popular are “Mini Flip charts” that are about the size of your hand, and can be fit in a pocketbook and pulled out to do an ‘instant” presentation anywhere. You simply flip the pages as you read them. Most do about a 5 minute presentation…

9) MLM Tools- Email.

This tool has become invaluable the last 5 years in ALL businesses, including MLM. And most network marketing companies today have their own email program, so check into it and see…

If not, you can get free email many places, including:

http://www.yahoo.com

http://www.msn.com

http://www.email.com

These are just a few. See what you can find and get you and email account. It will become a source of incredible communication for you and your business.

10) MLM Tools- Business Cards and Stationary.

You MUST have network marketing business cards if you are going to be in any business today, especially in MLM. You must have your name, your phone number, and email on it, as it is a COMMUN ICATION tool. It lets people know how to get in touch with you.

Make your mlm cards professional looking, but don’t over do the info on it. A cluttered and “busy” card can look unprofessional. See your upline to see if the company has their own cards, and see how much they are. You can get free business cards on the web as well. See your sponsor for that.

It is the same for stationary. Make it clean and professional looking. Not a lot of stuff that makes it look cluttered. It helps to also to match your business cards as that is what we call “Coordinated Power.”

If you want your picture on the cards and stationary…fine. It will cost you a little more.

Those are the top 10 tools…are there more you can use?

SURE!

But these are the main ones you will use to build your netrwork marketing business….

Learn to master 3 of them…make sure the Telephone and 3 Way calling are 2 of them in your MLM and Network Marketing business!

blessings…doug

An Informative Home Gym Review

free  Comments Off on An Informative Home Gym Review
Dec 192022

There are several well-known manufacturers of home gyms worth mentioning. While all have their advantages and disadvantages, the following home fitness gyms are particularly noteworthy. The reviews will focus on the universal gyms that the companies manufacture.

Weider Home Gyms Review
The Weider Crossbar (formerly called the Crossbow) is a universal gym that uses sturdy but bendable bows to create resistance. The range of resistance is from 5 pounds to 240 pounds, with an available upgrade that increases the amount of resistance to 440 pounds. The Weider Crossbar sells for around $500.

Pros: The Weider Crossbar is relatively inexpensive and has a wide range of exercises that it can be used for.

Cons: It takes a long time to put together and some of the suggested exercises are uncomfortable and impractical.

Gold’s Gym Home Gyms Review
The most popular Gold’s Gym home gym is the Power Flex. This is a universal gym that uses flexible bows to provide resistance. The maximum resistance is 210 pounds, with an available add-on that increases the maximum to 410 pounds. The price range for the Power Flex is between $500 and $900.

Pros: The Power Flex includes a rowing station, is capable of doing 65 different exercises, and folds to fit in a 2’by 3′ space.

Cons: It is difficult to adjust the resistance level and the manufacturers provide poor customer service.

Tuff Stuff Home Gyms Review

The CFM-555 is the best-known home gym made by Tuff Stuff. This is a universal gym with a single weight stack. The CFM-555 sells for around $1200.
Pros: The CFM-555 features easily operated range of motion device, a contoured seat back that is functional and comfortable, and a wide range of possible exercises.

Cons: It is large and relatively hard to move. There was no mention of any way to add resistance to the CFM-555.

Hoist Home Gyms Review

The Hoist Multi Gym H-100 is a well-respected high-end universal gym with a suggested retail price of $1500. The Multi Gym H-100 features a single weight stack.

Pros: The Multi Gym H-100 is well constructed and durable. It has a multitude of possible exercises and a sleek, space saving design.

Cons: It is expensive and there is no way to add resistance beyond the single weight stack.

Marcy Home Gyms Review

The Marcy MWM 1800 has dual 100 pound weight stacks to allow two people to exercise at once. It has the capability of doing over 20 different exercises. The Marcy MWM 1800 retails for about $400.

Pros: The MWM 1800 is a good value for its price and fits in a corner.

Cons: There was only a 50-pound resistance add-on mentioned and the MWM is difficult to assemble.

Powerhouse Home Gyms Review

The Powerhouse PH-1300 is a mix between a universal gym and a free weight home gym. It has the set up of a universal gym, but the user has to supply the weight rack. It costs about $350 plus the costs of weights.

Pros: The PH-1300 can have as much as 500 pounds added to it. It is inexpensive and relatively lightweight.

Cons: The weights must be bought separately and the cables that hold the weights break easily.

Conclusion:

Any of the products mentioned in the home gyms review could be a good choice for consumers looking to exercise at home. People who are looking to do light exercise could choose a smaller, inexpensive and less complex home gym, while people who are fully committed to build strength would be better advised to buy a larger home gym with more features. The main point to keep in mind is that there is a home gym on the market for everyone.

Climb Thousands of Search Engine Positions in Minutes

The goal of compiling this information around magazine
subscription keywords is to make it as simple as possible to pick
up, read and utilize ¡°the plan¡± I’ve been researching keyword
related search engine techniques for months now. I’ve found
groundbreaking strategies that impact your website immediately,
and long vigorous work that takes time and consistency. Here’s a
step by step guide to implement everything SEO keyword related.
Come up with 3 ¡°keywords¡± per page. If you don’t
have the funds for a wordtracker.com subscription then
goodkeywords.com and overture selector tool at overture.com are
two of the best free alternatives. Simply type in a vague
description related to your corresponding product in the software
(IE: if your product is magazines, and you’re a magazine
subscription agency you would type in ¡°Magazine Subscriptions¡±,
the search on the keyword software would yield popular
variations/keywords that stem from ¡°Magazine Subscriptions¡± like
¡°Discount Magazine Subscriptions¡± or ¡°Online magazine
subscriptions¡±. Select the keywords that have the highest count
and least amount of competing pages. For each individual page
you want to have a ¡°primary, secondary, and complimentary
keyword¡±. Since I’m so in love with magazine subscriptions, we
are going to use Magazine Subscriptions, Cheap Magazine
Subscriptions, and Discount Magazine Subscriptions as the Primary,
Secondary, and Complimentary keywords as a model.

TITLES:

On each individual page of your website you will paraphrase the 3
keywords in the title tag. For example on your index page if your 3
keyword phrases were: Magazine Subscriptions, Discount
Magazine Subscriptions, & Cheap Magazine Subscriptions, your
title would read ¡°Magazine Subscriptions | Discount Magazine
Subscriptions Cheap¡±. There should be 3 keywords for the
products you offer, followed by the h1, h2 and h3 header tags.
h1: primary keyword
h2: Secondary
h3: complimentary
Remember when applicable to come up with unique keywords for
your individual pages and follow the same steps.

PLACEMENT:

After your keywords have been chosen remember that the first
text on the page should consist of any of 3 keywords you plan on
using for that page. If you have too, write up a small blurb about
the page up top with keyword rich text. When you can,
throughout your page; bold, italicize, and underline each keyword
at least one time. Do this as naturally as possible making it flow
with the rest of the content, Google algorithms are starting to pick
up on this so don’t ¡°force¡± the B, I, U, tags. The more you
integrate keyword rich text with your content the better you’ll get
at it.
At the bottom of each page add your keywords in the copyright,
this looks natural and is a trick done by many professional
optimizers. (IE: if your website is ¡°Magmall.com¡± and your primary
keyword for the Magmall index is ¡°Magazine Subscriptions¡± you
would enter: ¡°? Magmall Inc. Magazine subscriptions¡±. You can
add a ? to every individual page, and use your primary keyword-
for that page–followed by the company name in the copyright)
Another trick is to add keyword text to your directories.
Name your files/directories with keywords. Under your index page
instead of index.html use magazine-subscriptions-index.html
(remember to mix up your keywords, use your primary, 2ndary,
and complimentary keywords throughout the page and directories)
You can also add in keywords at the end of images, and links by
simply adding the ALT tag at the end of an image, and a TITLE tag
at the end of the link. Make sure to finish off the keyword in an alt
tag with ¡°image, logo, banner, or graphic¡± so it looks natural.
Same with the title tag in the link. If the link is linking from index
page to Newsweek magazine page, the TITLE of the link should
consist of a keyword followed by the word ¡°link¡±. This prevents
your page from getting any spam reductions. (IE:
www.magmall.com/newsweek-magazine-subscription.html title=¡±
Newsweek magazine link.. Another way to feed your webpage
keywords is by saving your images with keyword rich text. (IE:
discount1.jpg) (cheap1.jpg) etc
Don’t forget to add keywords by your category/navigational links
up top. You don’t want your navigation links to be images (if they
are your losing a great opportunity to add keywords in your anchor
text). Make as many links on the site text links, so you can stuff
keywords into the anchor text as much as possible

Next you’ll learn exactly how to find the right keywords to invest
your valuable time on¡.

Building Ecommerce Web Sites: Where Do I Start?

free  Comments Off on Building Ecommerce Web Sites: Where Do I Start?
Dec 172022

Building a web site isn’t something that is really cut and dry. There’s a huge variety of products and services that can either help you get your web site where you want it or simply confuse you. It’s also important that you make the right choices upfront so that you don’t end up having to restructure your whole web site because of some problem in your design layout. The level of time investment neccessary for mastery in a lot of these software packages can range from little to a VERY significant amount. Because of this I feel it’s important to be lead in the “right” direction to make sure you don’t spend time in the wrong areas, or learning some software that might not be all that useful for you later on (*coughs* Frontpage *coughs*).

Where you should start greatly depends on what you plan on attempting to do, and how deep you’re going to dive in. For a moderately professional, clean looking web site without a lot of automation or intensive animated graphics you can probably get by with some basic knowledge of html, ability with a good WYSIWYG editor, and an image editting program. On the other hand, if you’re someone that’s looking to build something that will really wow your audience then you might consider spending some major time and developing some animation skills with a program like Macromedia Flash. I personally always spring for what I believe will bring me the greatest amount of profit with a minimal amount of effort, and because of this I usually end up spending all of my time diving in deeper with ONLY my WYSIWYG HTML editor, and my image editor.

What is a “WYSIWYG” editor?

A WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) HTML editor is what allows you to get by with minimal knowledge of HTML. Yes, that means you don’t have to know EVERYTHING about HTML to have a decent looking website. When you use a WYSIWYG editor it interprets what you’re doing (inserting an image for example) as being a certain series of HTML tags with attributes, and does it for you… Thus, what you see on your screen is what you get. Instead of seeing a bunch of HTML code in text format, you’ll mostly see what will actually show up in your browser once your web site is up WHILE you’re making it. I highly recommend using the latest version of dreamweaver — it is well-known as one of the best HTML editors by general consensus. Dreamweaver’s interface is very friendly, has a built in FTP client, and is specifically built to be flexible enough to suit both the coder and the everyday amatuer webmaster.

Image editing? What do I need that for?

Okay, let’s be realistic here: If you’re going to make a professional *appearing* web site it’s important that you can make some basic, decent looking graphics. There’s a lot of graphics problems that can truly get the job done, but as far as power and flexibility goes I recommend Adobe Photoshop. Adobe Photoshop definitely takes some time getting used to, but in the end it’s VERY rewarding. I’ve ended up using my knowledge of Photoshop to make not only graphics for multiple web sites, but also touched up portraits, made business cards, flyers, and other online advertisments such as banners. Infact, I’ve used it for everything except animation… But it also comes with Adobe Imageready which is very good with animation. This software is amazing, and if you’re going to learn ANY image editing software I recommend you start with Photoshop because of it’s widerange of overall… usefulness!

Let’s get me some sales!

Kick off your new web site you’ve gotten up from your knowledge of webmastering and image editing with a few new sales… Sounds like a plan? Well a great way to do that quickly is with pay-per-click advertising. BUT WAIT! Doesn’t that cost money? Well… Yes. But with the tools brought to us by some of the biggest pay-per-click advertisers out there we should be able to make a good evaluation of how much profit we’re going to make without much investment upfront.

The big question behind pay-per-click advertising is whether or not it’s worth the cash when you can simply get traffic from regular search engine ranking (otherwise known as organic traffic). Afterall, there are plenty of companies out there that promise to help get you all the traffic you need through optimizing your web site for organic ranking. The answer to this question is quite simple: profit is profit. Through conversion tracking tools such as those offered by Yahoo! Search Marketing and Google Adwords anyone can calculate exactly what their profit is after cost of PPC advertising is taken out. In my opinion, Google Adwords has the most user-friendly interface among the PPC advertisers. Google Adword’s interface makes it very easy to see which keywords are pulling you in the most sales, and which ones aren’t even worth your advertising money.

Let us not forget, however, that in order to make those conversions we’re going to be needing a shopping cart! There’s a lot of diverse software packages out there you can use, but I’ve been using Mal’s E-Commerce Free shopping cart for a number of years with great success. The cart’s server is hosted on their machines so that means you not only get away with not having to pay for the software itself, but you get out of having to buy an SSL security ticket too! Nothing’s a better bargain than free, eh?

Getting those sales leads you’ve been building up to BUY!

Once you’ve scored a few sales it would probably be a good idea to start using some kind of lead management services. I highly recommend the use of autoresponders for this purpose. Autoresponders are, essentially, a newsletter sign-up that allows you to strategically determine what you want to send each lead after a certain alotted amount of time. For example, let’s say someone visits your web site and you offer them a free newsletter. If you were selling an ebook on some very complicated topic, you might consider sending them only information on the most basic concepts at first to get them interested. Slowly but surely, you can turn those visitors that might have left your web site and never have returned into some serious revenue!

As far as autoresponders go, I highly recommend the use of Aweber. Their customer service is superb (seriously, these guys really know their stuff!) and can be contacted at any point during the business day via online chat or phone. They also offer tons of free information, and guides on making the most of their services. Check out their month long free trial at http://www.getaweber.com/.

Seven Inexpensive, Not Cheap, Advertising Tactics

free  Comments Off on Seven Inexpensive, Not Cheap, Advertising Tactics
Dec 162022

Copyright 2005 Mary Eule

Most small businesses have limited marketing communication, aka advertising, budgets making it even more crucial to research thoroughly; select the best medium(s) and target prospects carefully.

The following list contains seven suggestions for achieving “champagne” results on a “beer” budget!

1. Develop one or several, robust customer referral programs

Although most business owners acknowledge that customer referrals generate a great deal of their new business, very few have implemented a “formal” referral incentive program, even though this is one of the most effective, least risky way to acquire valuable customers… particularly if you’re a service professional!

Example: Offer current customers who refer a friend a free month/hour of service; instant “bottom of the bill” credit; or free merchandise AND a “spiff” for the “referee”! The details are up to you… I go into much greater detail of types of referral programs in my book, “Marketing” The Art and Science of Getting and Keeping Profitable Customers” if you’d like to learn more.

2. Dance with the Guy Who Brought You

There is absolutely no reason to ditch old marketing collateral (marketing lingo for brochures; direct mail letters; signs; point-of-sale displays; ad copy; promotions, etc.) if they still work! It’s okay to use the very same creative, send it to the very same prospects and/or run it in the very same publications over and over again, as long as it generates the desired results. However, it’s always a great idea to continually conduct small, statically valid tests of new looks, offers and messages.

3. Don’t overdo the quality and quantity of your advertising pieces or media mix

Smart marketers know when to “put on the dog” and when it’s a waste of money. Falling in love with fancy four-colored brochures; glitzy magazine ads; primetime TV spots; or silver-embossed letterhead is a huge mistake.

The sales vehicles, look and feel, and quality of all of your marketing communications must be appropriate for your product or service and most importantly, have a measurable impact on its effectiveness.

For example, variables like paper quality and graphics on a direct mail letter are far less important than the offer, so you could potentially save thousands of dollars by cutting back on the frills. The opposite is true when you’re developing a professional brochure meant to represent your company to the outside world.

Bottom line: Don’t do fancy for fancy’s sake… it’s a waste of money; unproductive and may even be totally inappropriate for your target audience.

4. Use studies, reports and articles to assist in educating potential customers about your products or services

This is a wonderful, low-cost way to add clout! Can you imagine including a New York Times article on obesity with your nutritional services direct mail piece? What an impact! Or perhaps the same nutritionist would enclose a reprint of a medical report that linked certain childhood diseases with poor eating habits?

5.Use Boiler-Plated Literature Templates

What a simple, but powerful, tip! A very perplexing, and often expensive problem is how to develop market-appropriate material for diverse audiences without going broke.

The solution is simple. For instance, you can develop various sales letters using a “boiler plated” template; identical layout and content that are suitable for any audience. However, several predetermined sections are left blank for personalization. This is often called “modular literature”.

6. Don’t change your own car oil

How do you think I know this? You’ve probably had similar experiences… You know the ones… trying to save a few bucks by doing it yourself? So off you go… drive to the store; wait in line; ask questions; look at the merchandise; select the oil, pan, funnel; wait in line to check-out; pay the cashier $24.97; drive back home; try to jack up the car so you can get underneath it to put the pan in place; undo the screw; get some oil in the pan; get most of the oil on you; get the funnel and fill it with the new oil; close everything down; throw your oil-laden shirt in the trash; and take a shower.

Cost? $24.97 in stuff; $1.32 in gas; $25.00 ruined shirt; 3.25 hours of your time; $1,000,000 in frustration… All this, when you could have had it done for you for $32.00!!

Lesson learned: Know what’s best left in the hands of professionals. Low cost is not always best cost!

However, there are times when doing it yourself is smart! If you’ve got better than average computer skills or design talents it’s easy to create things like business cards, letterhead and bill stuffers… but please, unless you’re an ad buyer by trade, do not try to buy, book or design ANY media (especially TV and radio) by yourself! Trust me, you’ll waste more money than you’ll save!

7. Pay suppliers on time

Not only will you endear yourself to vendors, but you can take advantage of your suppliers’ standard early pay discounts or create your own! This also saves money on late fees and will surely make vendors more likely to extend even better prices and offer you ongoing top notch service.
