Today is Independence Day here in the States. Since I’m leaving for a good while, I feel it is necessary to write about why I love being an American.
Regardless of all the political spin and protesting (which is an altogether different reason why America is great), our Founding Fathers set up an effective government. We have a solid framework in the Constitution, which grants us freedoms only dreamt about in other parts of the world. Our system of checks and balances limits power and reduces corruption. Thanks to our system, if we don’t like something, we can change it. Vote for Giuliani, Obama, or Scooby Doo..it’s your right.
No, seriously..Vote Travis in ’08
Our military will defend us to the ends of the earth. American armed forces are unmatched the world over. Think about where our nation would be without the bravery exhibited in the Revolution or World War II. Yes, we’re in Iraq. And yes, many people don’t think we should be. But we’re there, so support our troops. We don’t get walked on, and our military is the reason why.
The next thing I love about my country is its capitalist economy. Hey, I have to act like a business student at some point. Anyone with enough resources can start a business, invest, and reap financial gain. The state (for the most part) allows market forces to mandate the successes and failures of a sector, business, or product. We control our own destiny. That individualism translates to a motivated workforce and an economic superpower on the global stage. Cha-Ching.
To stay within the context of this blog, I’m also thankful that I’m free to travel and further my education. The American government has sponsored my exchange experience in Germany, which in itself illustrates the endless opportunities Americans have in today’s world.
I’m proud to call myself American. I hope I’m able to represent my country well during my year in Germany.

Feeling content is a constant practice. In yoga we call it Santosha. It is a place of being at peace with exactly who you are and where you are. Sounds like a great place to be right? What about when life throws curve balls that smack us right in our content and peaceful face?
In my own life practice I am constantly flowing between waves of extreme contentment and unrest. Unrest from having a long list of goals and life dreams combined with the motivation to help them manifest. For a long time I was not ok with staying put, getting bored or waiting for things to happen “if it was meant to be”.
Practicing Santosha has helped me turn a frantic, stressed, “trying too hard to make things happen” frame of mind, to a steady pace of awareness and patience. Santosha has taught me to trust universal timing and enjoy the process of achieving goals one sweet moment at a time.
Grandma Isabel was practically the pin up model for Contentment Magazine. She single-handedly made lunches for all the kids before school, did every one’s laundry, knitted a cover for the living room couch, helped the kids with homework after school, made dinner, washed up and had everyone in bed before 9pm. All of this done while Grandpa Joe was traveling for work. Not once did I ever hear her complain or threaten to throw in the towel. She was absolutely sure of her role and expressed it without hesitation, doubt, rebellion or stress.
Like I said, Santosha is a practice so if you are feeling the very opposite of contentment it is ok and very human. These practices exist so we can enjoy the fullness of life. Have fun with it and stop to laugh at yourself when you are taking things way too seriously!
Consider these questions:
1. Are you content in this moment?
2. If not, why?
3. What needs to change for you to feel content?
4. What can you do to make those changes?

“Service to many, leads to greatness” is a quote and a truth that I shall never forget or take for granted, and is the ultimate mission of and purpose of my life. Service! There more I study this term, the more I understand its practice is indeed the key to freedom and prosperity. Why is service to many a pathway to greatness? As the term denotes and means to act in a way of helping and aiding someone in need, thereby attracting to the one who is serving and the one being served an energy of gratitude and fulfillment.
I am one that believes people should be an attitude, spirit, and desire to serve. It is in this spirit that I write this article. One of my mentors and spiritual teachers once said “the best and greatest religion on earth is treating people the way we want to be treated.” There’s no particular name given to this religion, just a profound practice of good. Everybody inherently wants to be treated with care and love. It is in this spirit that I choose to serve humanity.
One of the ways I serve is by answering the call and prayer of many who desire change financially and economically, which produces, on another level, spiritual and mental freedom. The freedom I speak of is the freedom the think outside of the proverbial box, to do some good in a world that is screaming for change.
In closing, I wish to convey that it is my heart felt intent and desire that we strive to all that we can be in service to others, thereby increasing ourselves in every way. Feel free to visit us on online at website at the bottom of the page. Myself and business partner Jay actively involved in the service leading people to financial freedom through teaching skill sets that last a life time. Peace and blessings, as I look to connect with, in more ways than one, those who are sick and tired of being sick and tired of not being in position of true financial freedom.

For many people, pizza is the perfect food. Combining meat, vegetables, dairy and relatively few carbs, pizzas can either be a healthy snack or a guilty pleasure depending entirely on how you make it. Unfortunately for many people, truly great pizza has been very hard to find – those who can’t tolerate gluten or wheat. This pizza dough recipe is the result of many experiments in combining various gluten free flours and gluten substitutes. The cooked base has a pleasant chewiness from the use of psyllium husks and a beautiful golden brown crust.
Ingredients
140 grams Rice Flour (you can use white, brown, or a mix)
70 grams Tapioca Starch (can be substituted for Potato Starch)
70 grams Cornflour (make sure it’s a gluten free brand)
20 grams (2 tsp) Soy Flour (can substitute Millet Flour or Garbanzo Bean/Chickpea flour)
12 grams (1 heaped tbsp) Psyllium Husks (preferably powdered)
6 grams (1 tsp ) Guar Gum (Can be substituted for Xanthan Gum)
12 grams (2 tsp) Instant Dried Yeast
8 grams (1 tsp) Baking Powder
8 grams (1 tsp) Sea Salt
25 ml Olive Oil
20 grams (2 tsp) Sugar
10ml (2 tsp) Vinegar (gluten free)
Directions
Mix together all of the dry ingredients. Add the oil, vinegar and water Stir together for about 1 minute, until all ingredients are well mixed. Separate the mixture into 2 equal lumps. Place each lump onto a separate square of oiled baking paper. Drizzle each lump of dough with plenty of oil to prevent sticking, then press the dough out with your fingertips to form the pizza base. Cover the bases with another piece of oiled baking paper or plastic wrap, and allow to rise for one hour. Add toppings and bake on a preheated pizza stone for best results. You will need to use a pizza peel or an upside down flat baking tray to slide the pizza on its sheet of baking paper into the oven. Enjoy!

Love is a powerful force. It is such a powerful energy that it even protects us from the wiles of the dark force we call Satan. Many of us have been taught to fear Satan and an illusive place we call Hell. Is there really such a place, or is it just a state of mind, or a figment of our imagination? In any case, many of us appear to be controlled by fear of being sent there. Many of us have been taught that if we don’t do as some of our religious leaders say, we put ourselves in danger of going to this place called Hell.
There appear to be powerful people in our world today who want to control the masses. Apparently they are an elite group who believe they are way “above” the common folk.
But how can they control the masses? Two possible choices appear to be by the sword, or through fear. It seems they have chosen fear. It seems the masses today are very much controlled by fear.
However, we can choose to be set free of this control by choosing to live with love as our focus instead of fear. We can rely on our heavenly Father for all things when we choose to live unconditional love, and thereby eliminate fear from our hearts and minds.
What a wonderful effect this choice has on our liives. Choosing to live in love energy and generating this energy to all our family and friends around us helps change the entire world. We no longer need to live in a fear based society. When we begin to totally rely on Creator and trust Him, we begin to realize there is really nothing to be afraid of. As Jesus taught, it is by loving Creator, ourselves, and others as ourselves, that we gain eternal life in the presence of our heavenly Father, and that is where Jesus will be also. Let’s go for it and release all fear. Love can set us free!

Just thought it’d be fun to report on a recent multimedia setup we put together for a newly renovated home in Melbourne’s inner suburbs…
We were brought in quite late, after all cabling had been laid by the electricians. Unfortunately in planning the wiring, all data ports were put in where phones were to be placed and close to where internet would be used. As the house retained it’s old double brick shell, it was thought it would be hard to get a wireless network happening. How wrong they were.
We were called in to get the house online with a multimedia system. A large database of movies had been collected by the kids, but at present was all stored on computers.
It was decided that, using 4 x Apple Airport Express units, we would first turn the house wireless. This would enable everyone to access the internet on their laptops from anywhere on the property (including outside by the pool). In addition, it would allow us to use some Network Media Players as receivers by each TV. The TVs we also sourced for them were 4 x LG 32″ models as well as 2 x brand new Samsung LED screens (That’s right, we can source many other home entertainment products outside those listed on the site… just ask!).
We decided to install 6 x Popcorn Hour A-110 Network Media Tanks into the various bedrooms and living areas. This would allow them to access movies stored on different computers around their home. These were all fitted with a Wireless N USB Adapter Dongle from TP-Link, to access the wireless network of course. Potentially we could be called back to add another one to a study area and a further one to an outdoor gym area.
Finally, for centralised storage purposes, we set up a Netgear ReadyNAS Duo with 2 x 1.5TB Seagate Hard Drives installed. This gives the family the ability to drop all their multimedia files from their laptops onto a central device, freeing up space on the computer and giving access to a greater array of multimedia for other family members.
The initial tutorial that we gave them was met with many ooh’s and aahh’s as they seemed quite amazed by what was possible, and indeed what we had done for them. We’re quite sure they will be calling us for a helping hand as they get used to their new home entertainment network, and we’re equally as confident that they will grow to love it more and more each day.
The scope of this technology continues to amaze us.
Now, its’ off to go set up something like this in my home!
Cheers, Myles.

Oil Free Moisturizers

Every woman I know thinks the same thing come spring-time to go out and play! But visions of a re-activated lifestyle and the accompanying healthy glow soon give way to a less pleasant vision of seriously aggravated skin. Fine lines look a little less fine, and that glow has mutated into blotchy discoloration. The very things that are good for our minds and bodies can do a number on our skin without the proper antidote.
The summer heat combined with outdoor activity has us in a constant panic over those ever-present oil slicks. Since we spend so much time trying to banish excess oil, it’s easy to assume our skin needs anything but more. And we’re right-sort of. It doesn’t need more oil, but our skin still needs moisture. The heat and sun actually dehydrate skin, and over-producing oil is the body’s way of trying to remedy the problem.
Using a quality oil-free moisturizer helps our bodies find the right balance. A good oil-free moisturizer will plump up lines and wrinkles, while helping to keep the skin hydrated throughout the day. The result: our oil glands kick it down a notch. In addition, most oil-free moisturizers are non-comedogenic, helping reduce break-outs.
Of course, not all oil-free moisturizers are created equal. Some hydration is better than none, but if the product uses inferior, artificial ingredients, they can further aggravate skin. If an oil-free moisturizer is loaded with chemical irritants, from dyes and fragrances to preservatives and harsh additives, the overall effect is counter-productive.
On the flip side, the right oil-free moisturizer can offer fringe benefits. Look for products with quality, all-natural ingredients designed to soothe skin as they moisturize (keeping in mind that nature produces poison ivy, so plant-based doesn’t automatically equal good for you).
One of the most important fringe benefits, but potential irritants, is sun protection. Even though we all conscientiously slather on the SPF when we go out for a day in the sun, we forget how much sun exposure happens in the course of a normal, errand-running day. It adds up to years of direct exposure to aging, cancer-causing UVA/UVB rays and free radicals. While you may not need a thick coat of high-octane sunscreen, you need something.
The easiest solution is a combo oil-free moisturizer and sunscreen. However, many products rely on chemical sunscreens to avoid a heavy, chalky look and feel. These chemicals are highly irritating to many skin types, and may contribute to flare-ups and break-outs. Oil-free moisturizers that employ micronized zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, mineral particles that create a physical barrier, are ideal and won’t look or feel heavy. Zinc oxide acts as an anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial and has been shown to sooth and rejuvenate the skin, while titanium dioxide is considered by the FDA to be one of the most effective natural sunscreens.
Oil-free moisturizers are a dime a dozen, but finding a product with all the benefits and none of the irritants can be tricky.

In Forbidden Kingdom a movie I have come to love to watch, “an American teenager who is obsessed with kungfu classics, finds an antique Chinese staff in a pawn shop: the legendary stick weapon of the Chinese sage and warrior, the Monkey King. With the lost relic in hand, the teen unexpectedly finds himself transported back to ancient China” on a mission to hand back the stick to the rightful owner and therefore free the imprisoned King; a perfect metaphor for the freeing of the soul and rediscovering of self.
Self awareness is nothing more than re-discovering self; it is freeing the soul. The problems of life stem from an imprisoned soul; the way out of the affliction of man is the freeing of his soul. This is the ultimate goal of self growth and awareness. The degree and manner in which we have managed to free ourselves from our ego is our measure of growth and awareness. It is our opinion of self that binds us. It is our perceived relationship with the larger scheme of things that accounts for our bondage or freedom.
Do you know why it is easy to complain and find fault in others? Do you know why we find it difficult to love our “enemies”? What do you think is the cause of all the selfishness that you see in the world? Why is there so much conflict for example? What is causing all this ill treatment of other people; animals and the damage being done to the environment?
The answer is not a far fetched one: it is the lack of understanding of who we truly are. It is man’s distorted image of self that is the source of all this conflict; it is the ego that has trapped man’s soul and caused him to believe that he is separate from the rest of creation. Albert Einstein put it so well when he said: “Human beings are a part of the whole, called by us ‘the universe,’ a part limited in time and space. We experience ourselves, our thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest–a kind of optical delusion of our consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our own personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.” This is the goal of self awareness and growth.
Anything other than the identification that we are part of the whole; that there is no “out there”, only serves to promote self and therefore the ego that imprisons us. It is when we understand that everything is an expression of Consciousness that we will be able to love unconditionally; only then we will stop judging “other people”. Our capacity for compassion will be consistent with our understanding of our right relationship with the Great Whole. How you treat other people and animals; take care of the environment will reveal how free or imprisoned you are.
