You’ve jumped through all the hurdles and management just approved the budget for the trade show booth you’ve been dying to do for ages. You just high-fived your team when it hits you-you don’t just need a trade show booth, you need that trade show booth to get results!


This means you have to get people to come to your trade show booth-lots of them or your boss is going to be one unhappy person. Yikes!


Before you start that letter of resignation, wipe the sweat from your brow and take a deep breath. Feel better?


Great, now you’re ready to find out how to make your booth stand out on that trade show floor and have people standing knee-deep in line just to see what you’re up to!


1. Think color. Lots of it! Bold, sassy colors that immediately get attention from trade show attendees. Many people make the mistake of thinking if they build it, they will come. Nothing could be further from the truth when it comes to trade show booths! You have lots of competition and to beat it, you need a trade show booth that lets people know they’re dealing with professionals who know what they’re doing. Color does this almost better than anything else-unless you’re going against the grain by using stark, upscale colors like white and black to make your statement. And believe me, color does make a statement.


2. Now think lights! Lights can make a fairly ordinary tradeshow booth something special. How? Think of the way paintings in museums are lit, the way candlelight sets the atmosphere for dinner or weddings. You can take a regular Joe trade show booth, put some truly cool lights in place, and Presto! You have a real show stopper-right there at your booth where you can smooze and sell to your heart’s content (or your feet wear out, whichever comes first!).


3. Next, sound. Remember that guy at the end of the row with his white-cloth covered brochure covered table? Remember how he reminded you of the Maytag repairman in the old television commercials? Now imagine if he’d had some great music playing from his booth-or had simply had people out in front of the booth greeting and mixing it up with the trade show attendees. Because you can have the best looking booth on the block, but if you don’t make some noise that makes people want to get to know you better, then you’re just another pretty face. And that would be a real shame since you have such a great company.


4. Action. Now, many trade show exhibitors are resorting to things like having magicians or dancers performing at their trade show booths. This is a great idea-if the performances are related to your business. If you’re going to have a magician, have him or her pull your product out of his hat or some other item that will keep your company top-of-mind during the act. Why? While it’s important to give trade show event attendees something to entertain them, if you don’t keep your company and product in their minds along the way, they’re more likely to remember the entertainment than who (your company!) provided it for them. So you want to spend your money on some type of entertainment that is fun and pertinent to your business.


5. Free stuff. Now before you finalize that order for 500,000 pens with your company name and logo on them, stop. Put some real thought into this first. Pens are great, but people lose them, they run out of ink, not to mention that practically every trade show exhibitor is going to be giving away, yep, you guessed it, pens. So give away a notepad instead. One with your logo on it instead. Or better yet, have a drawing several times a day for a larger item that people will really use and that’s related in some way to your business. This is the very best idea ever. Why? Because people come BACK to your booth to see if they’ve won. This gives you yet another chance to get your marketing message across-which makes you the real winner.

We’ve all seen the flashing banners, annoying pop-up ads and

junk emails with the too-good-to-be-true free gift offers, like

“Free iPod!” or “Free Laptop” or “Free Digital Camera.”

Many of us simply think to ourselves, nothing is free; this is just

a scam, right?


Not necessarily. The plain and simple fact is, many incentive

programs actually do work, according to their Terms &

Conditions. But who really wants to read all of that legal

mumbo jumbo?


Well I’m here to tell you that I have read the fine print for many

of these free gift incentive programs, and even completed a

few. That’s right. I have received a few free gifts from these

programs, including a Sony Vaio Laptop, an Apple iPod, and

several free gift cards.


This is quite fortunate for you. Since I have already been

through some of these free gift incentive programs, I know

what to expect, and how to avoid any hassles, and I’ve written

this article to show you how.

Wait. So you are saying these programs are legit?

Yes. Most of them are anyway. As long as you complete all of

the requirements for the free gift incentive program within the

time period allowed you will receive a “free gift.”

How can these companies afford to just give stuff away?

It’s all pretty simple. Free gift incentive programs are created to

drive prospective customers to “sponsors” who then pay the

incentive program for each lead sent. This money is then used

to buy and ship your free gift.


For example, imagine a free gift incentive program offering a

$50 Wal-Mart gift card. In order to receive this gift, you are

required to complete 6 sponsor offers. If the guys running the

incentive program receive $10 for each lead, then they have

enough money for your gift and a few dollars profit as well.

So how can I make this easy?

As long as you are careful, receiving your free gift should only

take a few hours of your time over the course of a month or so,

depending on the program you choose and the free gift you

want to receive.


It’s best to plan to complete all of the requirements for the free

gift incentive at once. Do not start one of these programs if you

will not have time to spend on it. You will only have one shot at

each incentive program.

**Pitfall Preventing** These free gift incentive programs

usually have time restrictions, so complete all offers as

quickly as possible. Some companies will give you up to 90

days from the time you complete all the offers to claim

your free gift but others may only give you 90 days from

the time you
register. Quickly scan the Terms and

Conditions to be sure you know the time restrictions.

The most important thing you can do during this process is to

keep some simple documentation of what you are doing. Write

down every piece of information that you send or receive along

with the respective dates, including the date that you registered,

and the websites and cancellation information for each of the

offers you complete.


Most offers will probably involve some sort of subscription

with a free trial period, after which you will be billed

automatically. Be sure to cancel these before the trial period

ends. Set schedule alarms, place reminder sticky notes around

your house, whatever it takes, but DO NOT forget to cancel

them.


You will definitely have to spend a few bucks here and there

for shipping and spend some time filling out forms and making

phone calls to cancel memberships, but the free gifts will almost

always outweigh the cost to you.


The bottom line here is that these incentive programs DO work

if you know how to complete them correctly. Hopefully these

tips will be helpful for you in your next free gift incentive

If you own a home, then sooner or later you are going to be ready to sell that home. Maybe you’ve already sold a home or two. People tend to move more often than our parents did.

There are a lot of things that go into getting the best possible price for your home, but the very first thing your home needs is curb appeal. When a prospective buyer, or a realtor for that matter, pulls up in front of your home, they immediately form an opinion about your house. Fair or not, that’s what people do. You can have the most beautiful home in the city, but if prospective buyers don’t get a super positive feeling about your house the minute they lay eyes on it, they are going to enter and view the rest of your house with a negative impression.

Fixing that problem is easy enough to do.

When people pull up in front of your house there are two things they see. A house, and the landscaping in front of that house. If the landscaping is unattractive, the house will
appear to be unattractive. Landscaping for curb appeal does not cost a lot of money, it’s simply a matter of making sure the landscaping is neat, with well defined edges, and colorful. But when landscaping for curb appeal, the most important thing you need to do is to raise
the beds with topsoil. Of course you have to do this before you plant.

Plants do much better in raised beds, and the plants in the beds really stand out. In order to raise the beds around your house you do not have to buy expensive stones and build retaining walls. Just establish the outline of the planting beds, cut an edge into the soil with a spade, and fill the planting beds with approximately ten inches of good rich topsoil. You’d be amazed at how much you can raise
a planting bed without any type of retention.

Here are two more things you don’t need:

Plastic edging. It’s expensive, a lot of work to install, and it never stays in place. You can cut an edge with a spade and your landscape will actually look better. Then you can make the bed a little larger any time you need to.

The other thing you definitely do not need is weed control fabric. The stuff just doesn’t work. The weeds grow right on top of the fabric, then root through the fabric making it
even harder to keep your beds weed free. You’ll find a really good article on weed control on my website.

When landscaping for curb appeal, plant placement and selection is very important. In a corner bed you need a centerpiece. I like Canadian Hemlock because they are evergreen and provide an excellent background for more
colorful plants. In front of the Hemlock you can use a bright colored evergreen like Gold Thread Cypress, but don’t use too many. Usually three is all you want. Around the backside of the same bed you can use a darker evergreen like Taxus or even a flowering shrub that you
keep trimmed down low like Weigela. Lots of colors are fine, but don’t stagger the colored plants in your landscape, use them in groupings, and be careful not to use too many in any one grouping. When you use more than three of any colored plant they lose their
effectiveness. You are adding them for contrast, and when used sparingly they look much better.

In front of a house I like to use an arc of medium height plants like Blue Girl Holly, then put a couple of taller plants behind the arc. When landscaping for curb appeal you want the landscape to stair step toward the house. In
other words, the lawn is the bottom step, the raised bed is step two, low growing plants step three and so on.

If you are re-landscaping an older home you probably should start with a sledge hammer before you do anything else and bust out the sidewalk to the front door. Builders put in the ugliest sidewalks in the world, and they usually are hard to maneuver as you walk toward the front door. Once you have the old sidewalk removed, let your imagination run wild. Remember, you are landscaping for curb appeal, and there is no better way to establish
ultimate curb appeal than with a beautiful curved walk that gently winds its way to the front door. Once again, there are photos of such sidewalks on my website, and you’ll
see what wonderful landscaping opportunities they present.

The last step in landscaping for curb appeal is to create an interesting shaped raised bed in the front yard. Fill this bed with spring flowering bulbs, and annual flowers for the
summer. If your house is going to be on the market in the fall, add some chrysanthemums for a burst of fall color.

Therefore, your bio’s first line would read: Ellena Pakis was raised in a Greek American family. She shares her love for Greek cuisine by helping people learn how to cook a Greek meal in less than 20 minutes on www.yourgreekmeal.com .



It’s on her website where she describes in detail her studies in the Cordon Bleu, and that she’s cooked for prime ministers and presidents.






Step 2 – The second line offers a free test-drive with a free report or e-newsletter.




Now that the reader knows what to expect to see on your website, entice him to a free test-drive of your knowledge. Why? Not everyone who visits your webpage will buy a product in that moment.



Some people want to see that you “know your stuff.” Some want information now and can’t spend more time surfing on a website. You’re answering their “what’s in it for me” question with a clear offer.




Give your readers what they want by offering a FREE report or your free e-zine.




The title of your free report becomes more compelling when it includes numbers or the words ‘how to.’ Think of the headlines you see on magazine covers. They tend to say ‘6 ways to a firmer’ ‘steps to a better.’

In the United States, the month of December is the Christmas Season, not the Holiday Season. To the best of my knowledge there is only one holiday in December recognized by our government. December 25 was made a legal holiday in order to celebrate the birth of Christ. There are no other legal holidays during the month of December. Chanukah, Hannukah, or Hanukah is a celebration and, some say, a Jewish Holiday but it is not a legal holiday. Kwanza is a celebration and not a legal holiday. Christmas Eve is not a day and New Years Eve is not a day. We don’t call the month of May, the Holiday Season, even though that’s when Memorial Day is celebrated. On Martin Luther King Day we don’t have holiday parades, we have Martin Luther King Day parades. We don’t say happy holiday on the Fourth Of July, we say Happy Independence day or Happy Fourth Of July. Why then, do some people insist that we say happy holiday and holiday season when we are celebrating Christmas?


I’ll tell you why. It is because the organized religion of atheism (Yes atheism, is an organized religion, it is a religion of non belief.) is waging war against Christianity as the first battle in a war against all other religions. If they can defeat Christianity in this country of Christians, then they can defeat all religions that believe in a God or higher power.


I am a Christian. I don’t, however, know for sure, if Christ is the son of God or if he was a teacher or what. I do know, that I believe in the teachings ascribed to him. I do know, that even though we are humans and therefore can not and do not always follow all of those teachings, that if we all tried to live by those teachings of love and kindness, the whole world would be a better place. I also know that, I want Christ to be the Son of God because then it would mean that God did and does care about us and that there may very well be a Heaven.


I disagree with the director of special projects for the American Family Association when he says, “Christmas is not a holiday” and that calling Christmas a holiday “devalues our nation’s most holy day.” Christmas is a holiday. In fact, I consider Christmas and the Fourth Of July to be this country’s two most important and happiest holidays. The Fourth Of July celebrates the birth of our nation and Christmas celebrates the birth of Christ. Workers are given Christmas Day off with pay, school children are given several days off for Christmas vacation. Offices hold Christmas parties. Families get together, listen to Christmas music, stuff themselves with food and give each other gifts. Marines collect “Toys For Tots”. The Salvation Army puts out it’s kettles and collects money which is used to help needy people all year long. Many family members who have been feuding all year round get together and forgive each other. Christmas is a holiday of love and forgiveness.


Christmas is a holiday that everyone, not just Christians, should celebrate. Almost no one denies that Christ did exist at one time. The controversy is, whether or not he is the son of God. Putting that controversy aside, Christ preached or taught “peace on earth and goodwill towards men”. If people bemoan the fact that John Lennon died because he was a fighter for peace, how can they not celebrate the fact that Christ was born? Christ was arguably the original teacher of peace, forgiveness and goodness. He lived and died promoting peace. He not only promoted peace, he lived peace. He not only taught forgiveness, he lived forgiveness. Christ set an example that has lived for over two thousand years. If Martin Luther King can have a holiday, if Presidents, Veterans, labor and others can have their own holidays, why shouldn’t Christ have a holiday.


A note to other religions: You should support Christmas. If you allow the atheists to kill off Christmas, it could be your religion that they go after next. There is a war being fought today. I’m not talking about the war in Iraq. I’m talking about the war against religion being brought by atheists and certain hard line fanatics on the far left. Right now, they are winning the war because religious groups are not fighting back in a cohesive manner. If religious groups don’t help each other, someday they will all cease to exist and the United States will become another Soviet Union. Taking away our right to participate in religion and to celebrate our religion is a first step in taking away our other freedoms.


One of the main reasons that the United States was able to become so great is that, contrary to what the atheists and some others tell you, we are not a secular country. Our whole method of government and our laws come in large part from our forefathers religious beliefs.


It may not seem so, but I am not agaisnt all atheists. They have a right to believe in non belief and I support that right. I am just against the activists that are trying to force their non beliefs down my throat. I am willing to leave them alone if they are willing to leave me and mine alone. The problem is that they won’t leave us alone. They don’t want to allow us to believe as we wish. They want us to believe as they do. They don’t believe in Christmas so they want to take Christmas away from us.


One final note to all you major retailers who want to sell me gifts for me to give as Christmas presents, if you won’t acknowledge the Christmas Season in your advertising and in your stores, then don’t expect me to shop in your stores. If you insist in saying holiday season and happy holidays instead of Christmas Season and Merry Christmas, then I will insist in not dealing with you. For the time being, at least, you are free to do as you wish and I’m free do as I wish. My wish is to boycott you, not only during the Christmas Season but for a long time to come. Heck, I’m still boycotting everything French and I’ve been boycotting Jane Fonda and Shirley MacLaine since the Vietnam War.

I’m not wasting too much time here. We have eight days to get an exact plan in place to get you out of your own financial jail situation. Whether it be your job, your financial situation, need to make more money for the doctors or dentist, need money for a vacation, whatever. Here we go:

Day:

1. You must assess your strengths. (FREE)

We don’t want you to do something too far from what you’re good at. This lessens a learning curb that quite frankly, is very difficult to overcome if we get you involved in something so foreign and lacks affinity. I want you near and around your strengths. We then, look at options around those. For instance, even though I come from an insurance, real estate and entertainment industry background, I am good with computers and a good writer. So an information website is not terrible for me to delve into. It involves some website protocols (nothing too complicated) and marketing, which the writing will come in handy. There are websites that give free assessments to your strengths. They may give some clues. But really survey yourself and choose something you like too.

2. Open your mind to possibilities. (FREE)

You must look around at the possibility that you can DO something else. You must open your thoughts and break those blinders that keep telling you that the only way to make money is how you’ve been doing it. One simple way to trick your mind: If the way you’ve been making money is so great WHY are you reading this article? Take that mind jailor! You see sometimes we consciously tell ourselves that we can’t do anything. But our hearts, intuition or spirit or deeper mind brings us to a realization. I need to make more money, or need to change my situation, what else can I do? Thus you slowly start researching without even knowing it.

3. Pick one product or service. (FREE)

Choose a possibility. Is it Real estate, website marketing, hypnosis, massage therapy? Identify which possibility seems close to your strengths. You’ve opened your mind to the possibility. Don’t put too much weight on it. Just choose one. You can always adjust later. But it’s time to start studying.

4. Buy a how to, for dummies, overview, comprehensive type information for that product. ($$)

Systems that come packaged by the best in the business are out there for a very nominal fee. They come in intro packages probably under $50. But they give you a very good overview on this new territory. You’ll read about the lingo in the industry. You’ll study some of the basic techniques. Now you’re cooking. You have a strength, possibility, and product. Add some lingo and techniques and you are half way to a new way of making money.

5. Research the marketplace for the product or service. (FREE)

You have a product and some information. Take a look at real ads for that service or product. Read how others are selling it. Read at least 10 ads, online, newspaper, magazines etc. Get used to how they are “talking” through their ads to potential customers. You may use free advertising like business cards, bulletin boards, or emails to friends but you should survey how others are marketing their product so you are up-to-par and professional.

There is so much information on marketing. If you never sold anything before you better get some basics of marketing. This is important because your product or service won’t sell itself. You need to get out there and use proven techniques tailored to your service and product. Highlight what you are giving to customers that is different than the other ads. Choose a niche customer that you know very well. And sell to them.

Experts in the field you are entering are some of the best ways to ensure your success. They can take years off the learning curb. They can give quick and proven ways to make some money. If you personally know someone, just ask: “Hi, Ken, I know that you’re in real estate. I am getting into myself. I need to make more money for (whatever reason). Can I buy you coffee and talk to you about it?” Every time I say yes. It never fails. And you know what? No one has turned me down either. This is critical because you need to make money fast. Not easy, just smart, and fast. These experts know where to point you quickly.

Don’t get the “I know everything” syndrome. Just do the steps in the information you purchased. Questions that kill your motivation: “Why would they give me great information if they were making so much money?” “Does this stuff really work?” “Maybe my expert friend is pointing me in the wrong direction.” Questions that produce action: “What well defined niche should I use to get business?” “How do I get my message out there?” “Is there more material I can buy?” “Is there technology out there that can make a difference, like a new computer?”

You are now on your way. You can get out of jail soon enough. I’m not too worried about your motivation we discovered it at the beginning of the article. Just move forward, action. 2005 was an excellent year for Your Skin 101. Our site has done better that we could have ever dreamed, and this is due mainly to readers like you. It is refreshing to know that people have starting taking their health more seriously. As I have said in my previous articles, the state of one’s skin says a lot about the overall state of one’s health.
